April 2, 2025 - The Comal Independent School District is offering an “Experience the Ride” school bus driving event 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 12, during its districtwide job fair at Canyon High School, 1510 IH-35, in New Braunfels.
This is the perfect opportunity for anyone who has considered applying for a job as a bus driver to find out what it is really like to drive a full-size passenger school bus. With the guidance and supervision of Comal ISD transportation officials, participants will literally take the wheel of a school bus and navigate the parking lot.
Those same officials will be able to answer questions, conduct on-site interviews and assist with the application process as well.
Comal ISD currently has openings for 20 drivers and provides paid training to all new hires to ensure that they are prepared for the required CDL testing. Applicants interested in the behind-the-wheel event must be at least 21 years old and have a valid Texas driver’s license.
Additionally, participants are asked to wear closed-toe shoes, preferably tennis shoes.
