November 19, 2021 - During its monthly meeting, the Board of Trustees for the Comal Independent School District began work on voter-approved items from its Bond 2021 election. With four new campuses to build, buses and land to be purchased along with many infrastructure projects to be completed, the Board set things in motion on Thursday.
“We are excited to take action on what the voters approved on Nov. 2,” said Jason York, president of the Comal ISD Board of Trustees. “Being a fast-growth district means we need to do as much as we can to provide our students and staff the tools and facilities they need in order to continue to be successful. The items approved by the Board this evening is a great place to start.”
Four items approved
- Naming Pfluger Architects as the architect and engineer for the district’s Middle School #8 which is scheduled to open August 2024, located on the corner of Hwy. 281 and FM 1863. It will provide relief to Pieper Ranch Middle School.
- Construction-Manager-At-Risk (CMAR) delivery method for Middle School #8 which will expedite the construction schedule and provide a guaranteed maximum price (GMP).
- Professional services pool, which will include qualified service providers such as architects, engineers, environmental consultants, technology consultants and more.
- Purchase of 30 new school buses. These will replace current buses that are more than 15 years old. They will be equipped with air conditioning and seatbelts.
