Oct. 20, 2021 - The Comal ISD Bass Fishing team brought home another first place Overall School Champion trophy at this season’s first tournament on Oct. 16 at Lake LBJ.
In its third year, the Bass Fishing team is continuing its winning streak in the Hill Country Division of the Texas High School Bass Association tournament circuit.
Among the 34 student anglers who participated in the first tournament, Mason McClellan and Ryder Cunningham from Smithson Valley High School finished in second place and received $1,000 college scholarships. Braxton Alexander and Cade Dornburg also from SVHS finished in fourth place and received $190 gift cards.
The Comal ISD Bass Fishing Club is part of the district’s Intramural Sports program and is open to all high school students. They will compete in the following remaining tournaments: Nov. 20 at Stillhouse Hollow Reservoir in Belton; Jan. 22, 2022, at Canyon Lake; Feb. 12, 2022, at Lake Buchanan; March 5, 2022, at Choke Canyon Reservoir in Calliham; regional tournament April 9, 2022, at Lake Travis; and the THSBA State Championship May 14-15, 2022, at Belton Lake.
